Hi Everyone,
Fire safety is a very important consideration as our country is experiencing very dry weather at this time. In addition, there has been several fires that broke out in apartments in recent months. How can we help to ensure that fire does not break out accidentally? In this week's journal writing, I would like you to reflect on this issue. To help you with your writing, I have listed some questions below:
1. Have you seen or experienced any incident of fire break out in your home or neighbourhood? If so, could you tell us what happened?
2. Can you describe what you would do if a fire were to break out in your home or outside?
3. What do you think are the causes of fire in homes or outside?
4. What can you do to prevent fire from breaking out in your home and outside?
5. Do you think our pupils are conscious of fire safety? What makes you say so?
6. If you were given a chance to introduce an activity for children to learn fire safety, what would it be and why?
I hope the questions above will stimulate you to reflect on the issue of fire safety. I am looking forward to reading your journal writing soon.
Regards,
Mr Ng

1.Yes.The market was on fire and it was because of an unknown reason.
2.I would call the police and the fire department and bring my loved ones to safety.
3.I think the reason is a destroyed barbeque or a bogus prank that was lighted on the grass.
4.I would make sure that I prevent the fire from spreading.
5.Yes. They practise the fire drills very well and are always alert and do not panic when the alarm sounds.
6. It would be the playground made in to a special "scene" and banners of fire safty followed by a maze.I would do this as it helps to make fun out of drills.
1.No
ReplyDelete2.I will cover me with a wet blanket and crawl down to the exit if there is a lot of smoke.
3.It could be electrical fault or some children play with the fire.
4.I will not play with fire and must make sure that there is no dangerous things tat cause fire in the house.
5.Yes because it is dangerous to everybody and we must make sure that our life is safe first.
6.I would help them to learn how to extiguish the fire with fire extinguisher and how to run away from it because foundation must be strong and it helps us to be safe from the fire.

1) No
ReplyDelete2) If I am at home, I would run to the toilet because in the toilet, there is lots of water there. If I am outside, I would run away because it is none of my business
3)Maybe is some naughty children playing with fire or some were cause by the weather as it is too hot
4) I will not play with fire unless there is an adult
5) Some are while some are not. Some children plays with fire and that is why the house got fire
6) I would give them a piece of paper to write down how to learn fire safety and if they writes correctly, I would give him/her a small little gift
1) No, I have not seen any incident.
ReplyDelete2)If a fire would break out in my house or outside,it would be a little bit scary but I could help by calling the firemen to put out the fire from the ones who are trapped.
3)Maybe when they are lighting up something like when the mothers are cooking, they accidently drop the fire gun and it creates rail of fire or trapping around the room.
4)Be careful when you are putting fire on the borthday cakes' candles or something like that.
5)Yes, I think they are because the pupils would hear the fire alarm and they probably know what to do, most importantly, they should not panic.
6)I think I could tell the pupils to always follow the teachers' instructions one by one.
I think I know how important fire safety is because i have experinced A fire. Here is what happened,
ReplyDeleteI was sleeping soundly and it was around 11:00.suddenly I was woken by a big bang!
I realised was lying on grass and saw my flat on fire! The fire burnt a house in the third story. my father called the fire fighters but the fire fighters didn't get the call. Someone else had called the fire fighters. After some time The fighters reached the scene. They took a big hose and sprayed water on the fire.later everything stopped, or should i say got worst!
The fire broke out again, but this time from the 3rd story till the 7th story!a few days later the families who were affected were told that the fire started from a cigarrate which was thrown into a dustbin while it was still burning.
I wish this dose'nt happen again.
Hello! :D
ReplyDeleteFire Safety.
I have not experience any incident of a fire break out. Although I have not experience such an incident, I can prepare myself for it!
I would:
First, if possible, I would call my parents. But if I can't, I would do it myself.
I think I would take a cloth or rag to cover myself. Then I would take a pail of water to reduce the fire. But I must be careful.
I think that the causes of fire out break are: Some people might forget to switch off the kettle, thus causing a fire out break.
I must remember to switch off things that can cause a fire.
Actually they should be conscious because it concerns their safety. I would organise a fake fire break out and ask the children what would they do and how to prepare themselves.
Thanks!
Hanna.
Today I am going to you about fire safety. This is very important because nowadays fire incidents are increasing.
ReplyDeleteYes I have seen a fire incident before. Due to the incident the whole building was burnt including the shops. No one really knew how the fire started.
I think main causes are unattended stoves, keeping the gas on for a long time(e.t.c).
We can prevent fires from breaking out in our homes and outside by making sure that things like newspapers are not kept with fire sources.
Yes,I think they are. There are hardly any cases of fire in school.
It would be about how fire can be caused. This is because fire do not start by themselves. They start by some reason or another.
That is all I have to say.Hope you have enjoyed.
Hellos . [:
ReplyDeleteI have'd seen a incident at Ang Mo Kio,Block 628 Market there. I think one of the stallholders/vendors didn't off the power switch or maybe something happened to the gas from the the vendors and the fire turned out to be bigger and bigger while someone inside was injured and brought to the hospital and being hospitalized for more than 1 day I think(which is most likely?).
It can be lots of things could be happening by using MatchSticks/Matches(Either one you could say),Power Fire Switches or can either be Gas Explosion(I don't think it could happened).
I can take some pail of water to decrease the fire level,Call 995 for help, Ask my neighbour for help , We can also go into an empty room and make sure there's cloth and mats underneath so that lesser smoke will go in.
Yes.We sometimes practice the 'Fire Drill Alarm' so that we could be alert and we shoudn't panic when the Drill sounded.
I would ask them to post/write on their journal or post it on their blog on Fire Safety and when they're done , I check on their journals / post and if it's very good , i can give them something to show they understand what is Fire Safety is all about .
Hi Mr Ng!
ReplyDeleteThese are my answers:
1) Yes, I've seen an incident which is at market which is also called as 628 market. This is what happen on that day.
It was at 9:30 p.m. when the fire start. I was watching my favourite show at time. It was a chinese show on channel 8. I didn't hear the fire alarm as the windows are shut closed in my grandparents' room. Please don't mistaken that I sleep in my grandparents' room. I there to watch the chinese show.
The next morning, my grandmother told me that the market was on fire last night when we were watching. I ask her how did she find out? She told me that my father saw it in the newspapper and had told my grandmother about it. I was so shocked when I heard it. I went to my study table and take out today's newspaper.
That was so terrible that the market was burn. Before I read about the details, I kept asking these question. How can my grandparents buy vegetable, meat, etc? How??? That was when I started to read the newspaper for more details. It said that it was happen to be on fire because the power switch in a stall was not off after cooking or something else. I continue reading but now I can't remember some of the details. I'm sorry about that.
2) I can call for help by calling the firefighter, ask my neighbours for help and go to an empty room, put a cloth under the door, take a handkerchief and crawl on the floor to the exit.
3) I think that the childrens play with matches and lighters that is why there are fires at homes or outside.
4) I can call for help by calling the firefighter, ask my neighbours for help and go to an empty room, put a cloth under the door, take a handkerchief and crawl on the floor to the exit.
5) Yes. Fire is a very dangerous thing to everyone. In school, we always have fire drills right. By the way, it is not really on fire. It is a practice for everyone to know wat to do when there is a fire.
7) I will make a programe about fire and what you should do when there is a fire.
That's all! Bye!

Hi. Amelia here ^^
ReplyDeleteI did not experienced any incident of fire break out in my home or neighbourhood.
I will inform my neighbours about the fire break out and us them to help me to put out the fire. I will also call the firemen if the fire is very big if a fire to break out in my home or outside.
I think the causes of fire at my house or outside is the gas stove, something spoilt and if water touch the electrical wires.
I must be careful of fire safety, remember not to play with fire and inform adults if the gas stove is on fire or burning,
I think think our pupils are conscious of fire safety as we have learnt many things in school about fire safety and we know that it is dangerous to play with fire. We also practice fire drills in our school.
I think if I were given a chance to introduce an activity for children to learn fire safety, I will teach them what to do is there is a fire breakout and they have to perform these acts to help them remember all these instructions as we must know all these important instructions that we must do.
Bye!
Fire Safty is important for us to practice.
ReplyDeleteIt is important because it gets us prepared for any fire break-outs.This is wat to do in a fire break out-
1.stop
2.drop
3.and roll

ReplyDeleteI would call the fireman and inform my neighbours .
I think its newspaper and switches and stuff .
I have to becareful not to touch things that cause fire or if theres a fire , i will inform an adult .
I think we are conscious of fire safety as once theres a assembly or something to help us what to do when theres fire and we also have fire drills sometimes .
If i were given a chance to introduce an activity for children to learn fire safety , i would teach them what to do when theres fire .
